"There is not one big cosmic meaning for all, there is only the meaning we each give to our life, an individual meaning, an individual plot, like an individual novel, a book for each person." -Anaïs Nin

Of course, I disagree. Meaning is much more than the subjective interpretation we give it.
Of course, maybe I am misinterpreting it. We are responsible for what we do with our life. I think that our purpose and objective is to be the noblest creatures we can be. But I deny any notion of specific individual purpose.
richard...i believe that there is meaning beyond just individual meaning. however, i do not think that necessarily denies the significance of individual meaning or relegate it to mere subjective interpretation.
i don't believe that we are thinking, feeling, and perceiving beings just to serve a greater generic purpose alone.
i love that quote B - well picked out. meaning is different for all of us. this is because all we are is a result of everything we have been taught, told or expeienced, and thus all our different backgrounds result in us attaching different meanings different things...
nice one - i hope you are well.

jack...thank you. yes, i too believe that we are unique beings (based both on our innate qualities and those that result from life experiences) and as such, we do attach different meanings to different things. i think that is one of the most incredible things about life and the primary reason why i devour fiction...to look at life from someone else's perspective. and in those differences of perspective, i think we can truly see the common bonds of humanity.
thanks for stopping by.
