Paris Beckons...Further

Last week I got an email from the editor of Schmap, an online travel guide and they have short-listed one of my Paris photos for their next Paris Travel Guide. They short-listed this image I took of Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville last year. It was such a beautiful sunny day (obviously) and probably the best day I spent in Paris. I walked through the Latin Quarter and Saint Germain (the 4th and 5th arrondissements) all day.

This short-listing comes as quite a surprise, as I never submitted any photos. But it further reiterates that Paris beckons. I was also happy to hear that one of Colleen's photos was selected as well. It never ceases to amaze me how following one's true path can really yield such wonderful surprises. And these wonderful surprises, as small as they might seem, inspire me incredibly and I feel one step closer to Paris.

B,
Congratulations! What a lovely confirmation that you are on the right path. We already knew that--but it is still nice to get that wink and nod from the outside world.

Both you and Colleen are talented photographers.

Beautiful photo and it is definitely worthy of accolades. I can't wait to see what the next step is and how more hidden hands show up to help you on your Paris path.:-)

Very nice! The contrast between the very blue sky and the dark roof is what makes it! Beautiful.

Congratulations B! This certainly put a spring in my step too.

Thank you all for the very kind compliments! I swear that you could close your eyes in Paris and just start snapping photos and they would all be beautiful!! There is just so much beauty in that city.

Betty: I'm not sure when or if they will include photos outside of Paris. ?? But I love your images of Aveyron!

TAYO... Yes, I was thinking that very same thing when I was going back through my Paris images. I felt like I was back in that taxi from the airport to my hotel... the exhilaration of nearing the city center and the realization that I was truly there, living out a long held dream. And then right before me was Notre Dame and I was stupefied. I just felt so alive. And it is incredible that I can look at some photos and instantly be transported back to that very moment and the rush of feelings I experienced at that very moment. Incredible.

You are so very close to Paris... I'm jealous! ;-) Hey, if you plan on taking time out in Paris sometime around July, we can always meet up for some vin rouge and philosophizing in the beauty of Paris!

It's crazy that you bring up Alexi Murdoch right now. I recommended that in an earlier post, didn't I? Tonight I was driving home from visiting with my parents and I was listening to Alexi Murdoch so loudly. Amazing stuff, huh?

Merry Christmas to you as well!!

I am curious how your image got short-listed if it was never submitted?

Richard... They emailed me a few days ago and said that they would probably let me know after the New Year whether it was selected or not. I'll be sure to let you know! Thanks for the interest! :)
